Alexandra was in the Brecon Beacons preparing for a three-week expedition to Lesotho along with sixty other young people from all three cadet forces. The expedition is part of this year’s Cadet 150 celebrations.

They will trek through the Drakensburg Mountains and work on various development projects for the Prince’s Sentebale charity, which he launched in 2006 to children and young people orphaned as a result of HIV and AIDS.

The prince took time out from official duties to meet with the cadets on the last leg of their 25km trek. He told them: “You will really enjoy it. It will be a truly exciting adventure. Once you meet these people your lives will be very, very different because you will have an understanding of the way in which people live there.”

Alexandra leaves for Lesotho in July.
